A DAY'S OUTING

Last December we had a trip to Kolkata for 3 weeks. Kolkata is at its best during winter with its beautiful weather and people in X Mas festive mood.
The most exciting part of this visit was an outing to Mohar Kunj, the citizen park located between Victoria memorial and Nandan complex made by Kolkata Corporation in 2005.
The moment we entered Mohar Kunj park, it was all together a different world. There was a huge well maintained lawn criss crossed by metal led jogging track. At one corner there was a big stage where up coming young artist were singing and dancing to glory BAUL songs. Just at sun set the dancing fountain came into our sight. Nice stadium had been built opposite the fountain for the viewers. It was a wonderful play of different colorful designs of huge water fountain accompanied by harmonious mixture of light & sound. We were spell bound watching the programme which lasted for half an hour but appeared to us to be a few minutes. The programme was repeated every half an hour. The Victoria Memorial Hall was glittering in the back ground. We had a feeling if there is a heaven on earth, “It is here, it is here, it is here”.
It was surprising that majority of Kolkatans had never visited it. Incase you failed to visit the dancing fountain of Sentosa Island in Singapore, please make the beginning at Kolkata

Five important lessons to learn from a humble pencil.

1. It tells you that everything you do will always leave a Mark.
2. You can always correct the mistake you make.
3. The important thing in life is what you are from inside and not from out side.
4. In life you will undergo painful sharpening which will make you better in whatever you do.
5. Finally, to be the best you can be, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

Truth is stranger than Fiction

Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction, and how about 70 kilometers east the capital of the Czech Republic , Prague , lies a small town called Sedlec. It might have been an ordinary enough town, if not for its extraordinary church. The inside of this church is decorated with artworks made of real human bones.

The story begins in 1218, when a certain Abbot Henry made a pilgrimage to the holy land and brought back a jar full of soil from cemetery, which he spread over the Church.
As a result the church came to be regarded as more sacred and turned into a popular burial spot .
By 1318, more than 30,000 bodies were buried there and by 1511, it had become necessary to remove the older bones to make place for the new ones.
These later became the material for the macabre creations.
In 1870 a local woodcarver was hired by the Duke of Shwartzenberg to decorate the inside of the church with the human remains (approximately 40,000 sets of human bones). Now it is one of the most extraordinary church in the whole world.... Boney Church - isn't it morbidly amazing???
